I am a full time college student and I don't have a job on the books. I applied for student cards, the ones that required little or bad credit, but I was denied. I was told that they denied me because I don't have enough credit, according to a national credit report. But, I don't know how I am going to build credit if I can't get a credit card! If anyone knoes of a credit company that will give ma a card, please let me know!

      Hi, Im trying to apply for a DISCOVER or AMERICAN EXPRESS credit card and im a student. On the application it makes you choose your school but I go to a junior college and its not there, I found that both discover and american express dont have junior colleges on their list. Does anyone know why this is? Do they not accept junior colleges valid for their student credit cards?

      I'm currently looking for my first credit card, and I've applied to three separate companies. All of them say the same thing: "We cannot approve your application because you have no previously standing accounts." In other words, I'm not on the grid yet. I have the money to back my application. I'm a student, but I'm unemployed at this time. Even the Student account was denied me. Is there any way I can successfully get a credit card?

      Is a college student credit card any different than the ones my parents apply for? If so what's the difference.

      Long story short, I am a student with no (or limited) credit.

      I currently have 1 checking account, 1 savings account, 1 debit/check card (linked to the said checking account), and 2 credit cards (1 with Bank of America, the other with Chase; both Visa).

      I want to open another credit card due to their exceptional cash back credit card (Discover).

      Would this be alright, or should I cancel the Chase credit card (I barely use it)?

      I'm 18 years old and I've been looking to establish a credit history. I've been self-employed for the past 6 years with a website development business along with a mobile DJ business. Because I was underage, I've been unable to officially register my company until now, which means this will be my first year filing a W2 and other tax paperwork.

      I applied for a standard credit card and we rejected because I didn't have any credit history attached to my social security, which is fair.

      However, I then applied for a Citi secured card and was denied on the grounds that they "could not verify the address or Social Security Number that you provided". I sent Citi a copy of my most recent bank statement as well as a copy of my drivers license, but obviously that wasn't enough. They did give me the option of sending more information (W2 forms, pay stubs, drivers license (again), utility bills, etc), but I am assuming that it will be quite useless because my Bank of America secured credit card application was just denied on the same grounds.

      Is it impossible to even get a secured card without having ever filed a W2? I know that the credit card industry has gotten tight, and I understand why they've done that, but a secured card is quite different than an unsecured card. I'd assume that they would put me on board, keep tabs on my payment history, and then ask me to submit income and all that information sometime in the future when they wanted to convert me to an unsecured card.

      Any information/advice is appreciated! I'm just entering my senior year, so student cards aren't within reach yet.

      what are things i need to do to make my credit good beside paying off my student loans and credit cards and paying off the bad debts on my credit report. I know to pay things on time but all the bad things i have against me is for trusting friends and now i know better. but i need something to give my credit a boost to get in the green. I know one thing i need to do is stop applying for stuff like credit cards (walmart,sear etc.) but give me some ideas of ways to make my credit turn good i know it may take a while but i am willing to wait. And for you people that have had fair ok credit have did you make your credit turn good
