    My credit score is good, but it is lower that it might be because I have "too many accounts with balances." I have not carried a balance on a credit card in years. I just use them for convenience and airline miles, and pay the full balance every month. As I see it, this should improve my credit score, not hurt it. Why can't the credit bureaus distinguish between a balance carried month to month and new spending that is paid off in full?

    I have no credit report, no credit history and I'm a student..but I've applied for several personal loans and credit cards and only got approved for a secured credit card from BoA. So yeah, several places have tried to pull up my credit report without success. (I can't even pull up my own credit report for some reason!) I want to build credit, do you think I will get approved for a charge card or is it going to be just another dead end? Thanks. =)

    I was told that having a Discover in addition to having the other 3 major cards will help you.

    I am aware that a secured credit card will help me boost my credit score as long as a I pay on time, but if I can get qualified for an unsecured credit card, should i get one?

    Basically my question is, will one raise my score faster or higher than the other? Do lenders look down upon "secured" credit cards?
