Can I apply and get approved for another credit card? it would be a buckle card and I am told you only need fair credit.

Should companies and agencies who base how much they are going to charge you be required to report your payment history to the credit bureaus? I ask because I just found out that my auto insurance company can raise my premium based on my credit score, but I have a perfect payment history. I think that if they are going to 'take' info from the credit agencies they should also be required to 'give' info to the credit company. Are there any laws that govern this? Wouldn't this be considered fair credit reporting?
If I have and accident and file a claim or if I am driving unsafely and get a ticket, my premiums go up. I am being penalized for something I did.

It is discriminating to charge me for something that some profile statistics say that I MAY do - especially when documented history clearly contradicts the profile.

I pay my premiums a month in advance. If I pay 6 months in advance, I don't get a reduction of premium nor do I get paid interest for my insurance company holding my money for 6 months - so why should I get charged a fee?
And if I DO get into an accident -it doesn't matter that I have been paying for insurance for 18 years and have never filed a claim - the insurance company doesn't even pay the whole thing...I still have to pay 0 of the damage.
What a racket! Blood sucking low lifes.

I'm am working on rebuilding my credit. I heard that one of the best ways to improve a credit score is to show a good payment history on a line of revolving credit. I'm 99.9% sure that I will not qualify for an unsecured card again (that's how my credit got bad in the first place) so unsecured seems like the best way to go. Can anyone offer information on secured credit cards (NOT prepaid credit cards because they don't report to credit agencies)?

Thanks for all the possible answers. I should add that have not taken out any new loans nor have I applied for new credit. I looked at my credit report and there does not seem to be anything weird. This is very baffling. It's also frustrating as it seems impossible to contact the credit bureaus to get an answer.

I'm 18 years old and I've been looking to establish a credit history. I've been self-employed for the past 6 years with a website development business along with a mobile DJ business. Because I was underage, I've been unable to officially register my company until now, which means this will be my first year filing a W2 and other tax paperwork.

I applied for a standard credit card and we rejected because I didn't have any credit history attached to my social security, which is fair.

However, I then applied for a Citi secured card and was denied on the grounds that they "could not verify the address or Social Security Number that you provided". I sent Citi a copy of my most recent bank statement as well as a copy of my drivers license, but obviously that wasn't enough. They did give me the option of sending more information (W2 forms, pay stubs, drivers license (again), utility bills, etc), but I am assuming that it will be quite useless because my Bank of America secured credit card application was just denied on the same grounds.

Is it impossible to even get a secured card without having ever filed a W2? I know that the credit card industry has gotten tight, and I understand why they've done that, but a secured card is quite different than an unsecured card. I'd assume that they would put me on board, keep tabs on my payment history, and then ask me to submit income and all that information sometime in the future when they wanted to convert me to an unsecured card.

Any information/advice is appreciated! I'm just entering my senior year, so student cards aren't within reach yet.

I have three credit cards with the oldest account about 2 years old. I do not need or want a car loan or a mortgage. What is the maximum score I can acheive with just keeping credit cards. Also, will I be considered a high risk since I have no other type of credit obligation? My credit limits are not very high on the accounts that I do have. At what Fico score should I apply for another card to receive a high limit account?

I carry hardly any balance on any of my accounts. I use them and pay off the balance at the end of the month just to have a ontime payment history.
