I recently received a preapproved credit card offer in the mail. I applied for it online. When I went back to check the status of my application I noticed on my auto complete that the last digit of my social security number was wrong. I was approved. I called the credit card company about this and they reran the application. A week later I received a denial letter stating the reason was because I had already applied for the card. One day later I recieved the card in the mail. Again I called the credit card company and they said it was no big deal and just updated my account. What I don't understand is how I got this card under another number? I had applied for this card awhile back and was denied. I'm wondering if they had my information in the system and that is why I was approved? I don't know. Maybe somebody can help me with an answer.

I owe 14K in credit card debt. My credit card company keeps sending me offers to transfer my other balances to them for 0% interest until April of next year or 4.9% for the duration until it's paid off. there is a 3% fee for the later one. My question is, can I go to my credit union and get a personal load for 14K and pay my credit card off then a week later write one of those transfer balance checks to my credit union to repay the loan. This would change my interest rate from 10.99% to 0% or 4.99%. Is this legal to do? I'm thinking of taking the 0% and just keep doing it until I pay off the card. Is there anybody in the credit card field out there who can help me?

A person stole my Visa debit card info and has used it several times over the past 3 months to charge online purchases. After reporting it to the credit card company, they told me the name, city, and state of the thief. With a little more research, I found out the guy's full contact info and address. I don't know if the merchant or credit card company will report him, but I certainly will. Could someone please tell me the best online policing agency or ? for interstate credit card theft?

History: This person applied for home mortgage loan 7 months ago. At that time he did not have any liabilities/loans and had funds in his bank account too.

Bank went through loan approval process and approved this person for several types of loans (80/20, 80/15/5, etc) after looking into salary, bank statements, etc. This person went ahead and signed a contract with builder to build a new house.

Things have changed and now this person does not have money to make even 5% down and still wants to proceed with home purchse since there are enough credit card balance transfer offers he can use to make 5% or even 20% down without a problem.

I guess my question is would bank have any issues with down payment using credit card balance transfer? Is there a possibility bank would know this person ows money to a credit card company (if not timed properly since they are going to run a credit report again)? Has anybody done it before? any legal issues with this approach?

So a really stupid thing happened, and I acknowledge I should have been more on the ball to prevent it. That said, here's the scoop.

I remembered setting up a monthly scheduled payment to automatically take the money out of my checking account to pay on my credit card so I wouldn't have to worry about it. Foolishly, after setting up this payment, I didn't bother to check my balance as I trusted it was taken care of. WRONG.

I check my credit report every month, and got a notice that a negative item had been posted. The aforementioned credit card was apparently past due, saying I had not made a payment since August. This floored me. Like I said, I thought those payments were being made. Anyhow, the negative item dropped my score by 75 points. Luckily it was Excellent, so now it's just down to Fair instead of poor, but it still smarts. I made the payment that was due and then some, so now I am current. It was never about not being able to pay. I must have incorrectly gone through the procedure to set up my bill payment, and the money just never got drafted. Ironically, I haven't used that card in months.

My question is this: Now that I'm current (and I actually intend to pay off the rest of the balance with my bonus check from work next week), can I expect to see any increase in my score at the next reporting period? I understand the report of my delinquent account will stay on my record for a few years. What I'm wondering is if my score can possibly recover.

And in case any of you are wondering, yes, this has taught me a valuable lesson about checking on my accounts to make sure those payments are being made!
I've already contacted the credit card company. The fact that, in my five year of being a customer, this is the first time I've had a delinquent report does not matter to them. They also will not modify thir report to the credit bureau because the "mistake was not on [their] part." Therefore, the information will stand.

I am looking to see what the statute of limit is to dispute a credit card transaction that was committed from a fraudulent company. I believe it is 18 months but not sure on this could someone help me out here and let me know what the statute of limitations to dispute a charge on my credit card and get rewarded the money back from the Credit Card Company.
