Thank you for any help.

This man is a relation and he wonders if at his age if lending institutions would seriously consider giving him a mortgage at 80 years old?

He has around 20K in savings and makes around 36K a year in pensions. He has 1 or 2 active credit cards with very little owed on them as he pays them off each month. He has no mortgage currently and has rented for decades and wants to buy a home now.

With that outline to consider, would he be able to get a mortgage or would he run into a lot of difficulty because of his age?
This guy actually still works on occasion when he feels up to it, so in the past few years he has earned around 50K per year on average with his pension.
His vehicle is about 10 years old as he payed it off five years ago, and he owns no other assets that are worth mentioning for the sake of a loan.

I was going to consolidate two credit card onto a new lower interest card and cancel the old cards. However, I was informed that closing the old cards would not look favorably on my credit report. I thought this was strange as good credit reflects on your credit report for 10 years and keepin the old card open whould make your debt ratio higher. Can someone explain this to me?

I recently looked into my FICO score and it is "fair" but not as good as I would like it to be. One of the things that is currently on my credit report is a high limit AMEX card (,000) that is shown as active and in good standing. It is a card my father has that he put my name on almost 10 years ago when I was in college, but I haven't had access to that account for many years. He must have never taken my name off of the account. It also appears that the card is not actively being used, it just sits there open.

I've heard that having a credit card that is in good standing but not being used is just as bad for your credit as having one that is delinquent or in collections. Is that true? Or does having a high limit card in good standing contribute to my good credit no matter what?

My spouse received a summons that needs a response in 20 days. This is a Personal card of that spouse only and it is demanding ,000 for a past due debt. To make it worse this spouse has no job or income to make another arrangement. What does this mean to the other spouse? We live in MN and I have paid all the house payments for 10 years but both names are on the title.
The spouse owns nothing else at this time.

As a college student, I've racked up some credit card debt. I have never missed a payment, and have always paid at least -10 over the minimum amount.

My grandfather recently passed away and he left me quite a large sum of money. What would be the best way to pay off these credit cards? Should I pay half one month, and then half the second month?

The goal here is to a) settle my credit card debt, and b) improve my credit score. The inheritance money will be released to me monthly until the amount expires (around 0 a month for the next 10 years). Any guidance/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I recently pulled my free credit report and FICO score. I have had impeccable credit for 10 years, with a recent score of over 750 when I bought a home two years ago. In December, a creditor called to say I was 60 days past due on an account I had opened in August to buy a television. I moved to Atlanta in August, opened the account with my new address, but they sent bills to an old address that did not have mail forwarding. I have no idea why they were sent there. I cleared up the account, the creditor placed everything back in good standing - even admitting fault in my account notes. Unfortunately, they reported it as 60 days past due and have told me they can't change the reporting to the credit bureaus (they referenced that they can't change it in the letter I received because of the Fair Credit Reporting Act). It is pulling my score WAY down. How can I fix this problem? They admit they were wrong about where they sent the bill, but they won't pull it from my report. HELP!
