As a college student, I've racked up some credit card debt. I have never missed a payment, and have always paid at least -10 over the minimum amount.

My grandfather recently passed away and he left me quite a large sum of money. What would be the best way to pay off these credit cards? Should I pay half one month, and then half the second month?

The goal here is to a) settle my credit card debt, and b) improve my credit score. The inheritance money will be released to me monthly until the amount expires (around 0 a month for the next 10 years). Any guidance/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I recently pulled my free credit report and FICO score. I have had impeccable credit for 10 years, with a recent score of over 750 when I bought a home two years ago. In December, a creditor called to say I was 60 days past due on an account I had opened in August to buy a television. I moved to Atlanta in August, opened the account with my new address, but they sent bills to an old address that did not have mail forwarding. I have no idea why they were sent there. I cleared up the account, the creditor placed everything back in good standing - even admitting fault in my account notes. Unfortunately, they reported it as 60 days past due and have told me they can't change the reporting to the credit bureaus (they referenced that they can't change it in the letter I received because of the Fair Credit Reporting Act). It is pulling my score WAY down. How can I fix this problem? They admit they were wrong about where they sent the bill, but they won't pull it from my report. HELP!

I have been teaching in music studios for 15 years and I have been handling the business aspects as well. I know this business inside out. I need start up money to get ahead or wait 10 years (enough time to afford 20%) until i can buy said house and actually
start the business.

I've had a Lazarus charge card for nearly 10 years. As we all know they're now Macy's however every year when I run my own Equifax report this card still appears. I'v inquired as to who I need to contact in order to have this account closed, but no one can give me an answer. When I call the 800 # on the card itslef I get the runaround. Has anyone had this similar problem? How do I get this account shut down?

We are hoping that our credit score has improved greatly now that the bankruptcy is off (it was a long 10 years) and we haven't acquired much debt.
