I just turned 18 a couple months ago and I was wondering what would be a good credit card to apply for.?

I'm trying to build my credit up by applying for a credit card but I'm having trouble. I have limited credit and so far all the cards I've applied for have turned me down. I was just wondering if anybody could help me by telling me which one might actually help me build my credit and not turn me down. Thank you very much.

Citicards.com is a good one..they have options too for first time cardholders.

Avoid First Financial Bank USA if they send you an offer for a credit card…they are no good…(personal experience).

Also avoid any card dealing with a high APR% rate after the free 0% APR ends…They trap you with a 0% APR so no interest is building on your card, but if you’re late or the trial ends, it can sky rocket to well over 15%+…

My daughters start with a gas card for a station close to their home. Then after making a few payments on time, they apply for a store card like Limited or Old Navy. Then they apply for a Mastercard. It takes time.

start with a simple store card, even try for a walmart one since your more likely to shop there more. But keep in mind that credit has changed. My husband has good credit, a solid job, etc etc, and he even got turned down, so considering how young you are with no real established credit, the chances of being approved are low.

As of February 22, 2010 you will need a co-signer (parent) if you are 18 to 21 years old to get a credit card. Having a full time job… helps too.

Looks as if you need to go that way anyway…. you applied for too many cards in too short of a time and dinged your credit score even more.

Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com and pull your credit report. You will see all of the hard inquiries by the banks you applied with and that is why you are getting denied over and over.

Stop applying immediately. Every application hurts your credit. Your credit is already much worse than it was before you applied for so many cards.

Make one, and only one, attempt to obtain a "secured" credit card. This is the only kind that you can obtain before you build up your credit. You will not be denied for a "secured" credit card just because you have not built your credit. If you are denied for a "secured" credit card, it will be for some other reason, such as because you have applied for too many credit cards. If this is the case, then wait more than a year before you apply for any credit card. After applying for no credit cards for more than one year, then make one, and only one, more attempt to obtain a secured credit card. Use the secured credit card to build up your credit before you apply for any other type of credit card.
