I would say the best air mileage credit card is the one that gives you most mileages every time you spend a dollar, the one you can still use while you are there overseas, and yet, the one also that gives you a sky mile number you can use with most airlines. For instance, one of them is Delta American Express Card gives you mileage for every dollar (Sometimes you get double or more mileage per dollar depending on promotions) and you have a sky mile number from Delta you can use to get mileage credit from any airline within the Star Alliance. Star Alliance has nearly 30 airline companies that include United, US Airways, Swiss, Air New Zealand, Air Canada, Air China, Blue1, ANA, Asiana Airline, Adria, Austrian, BMI, Brussels Airline, Continental Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines, Spanair, TAP, Thai, Turkish Airlines, Croatia Airlines, South African Airways, Shanghai Airlines…

Also, Delta has its own partnership with certain airlines such as Air France and Japan Airline… so, with that sky mile number from Delta American Express, you’ll be getting an a wide range of mileage rewards options. To get mileage credit when you travel with one of their partners, make sure your give them your sky mile number at the time of purchasing the ticket or checking in at the airport or online (If they have the option).

Last but not least, depending on the type of card you may be getting from American Express (Classic, Gold, Platinum, Silver…) you may qualify for one free companion travel certificate each year. As from the mileage accumulated, you can use them to redeem an airline ticket, hotel room, car rental, gift, sell them…
