    No. But a creditor can sue you for not paying debts and claim wage garnishment or property seize depending upon the judgment in the court. It can also damage your credit.

    no, tell them you are gonna file for bankruptcy

    no but it will cause problems if you try to get credit of any kind in the future and may even hurt job opportunities as not meeting your obligations often is interpreted as bad character

    no, if it was illegal millions of innocent americans would be in jail right now, almost no one is paying right now
