When responding to a credit card offer….?

If you are approved, but don't care for the APR or amount you are approved for,can you at that point, decide not to accept that card, or are you required then to accept the card? There is a card I'm looking into getting that I was sent an offer for,but I don't want some card that is going to give me a 0 limit, that won't do me any good for the purchase I intend to use it for,and I don't want to just "have" another credit card to be tempted with. I can't remember with the other cards I have,if I entered my info and once approved, just got sent the card without the option of deciding not to recieve it after reviewing what I was approved FOR. THanks!

You don’t have to keep it. Cut the card up. Call the isssuer and tell them you want to cancel. Follow up with a letter stating you want to close the account.

You can always cancel the card or shred it. If you shred the card, it might increase your credit to have one in good standing. However, you don’t want too many either. You also need to be careful when applying for credit. Each inquiry cost you around 2 pts off your credit score.
